Adobe Stock’s 2022 Creative Trends forecast combines consumer insights with extensive research on trending visuals, socio-economic developments, and global narratives to forecast the most relevant visual, design, and motion trends to help guide creative, marketing, and client-servicing needs throughout the year.
I've attended an interesting talk (hosted by my company's XD team) by Brenda Mills who leads trends research for Adobe Stock in partner with WGSN and other forecasting companies.
Below are my rough draft takeaways!! You might’ve noticed these trends around you at play.
2022 VISUAL TRENDS:
“Powerfully Playful” Bright accent colors, geometric shapes
“The Centered Self” Self-love movement visuals depicting body positivity, mental health, meditation, affirmations
“Prioritize Our Planet” Visuals depicting environmental activism, natural disasters to raise awareness
“In the Groove” Imagery of dancing, rhythmic movements and shapes, flow-y, “in action” shots
2022 DESIGN TRENDS:
“Soft Pop” Character narrative, round shapes, soft pastels, child-like glee, color pop
“New Naturalism” Minimalism, clean, compositional, organic, stark colors with earth tones
“Heritage Craft” Maximalist, folk art, patterns, craftsmanship, geometric shapes, serif and hand drawn → seen a lot in packaging design
“Otherworldly Visions” → Metaverse, optical illusions, softer color gradients, dreamy contrasts, sci-fi, 3D
2022 MOTION TRENDS:
“Metaverse Mix” Special effects depicting tech advancements, neon colors, street art, negative space
“Dimensional Delights” Hyperrealism, organic shapes, negative space, tokyo-like art colors, plays with scale, intersects with “Powerfully Playful” & “Soft Pop”
“Copy and Captions” Text Elements, without sound, repeating text, energetic glitches, inclusive captions
“Get Moving” High Energy, Intersects with “In the Groove”, festivities movement, dance
